The Use of Horizontal Shading Devices to Alleviate Overheating in Residential Buildings in the Severe Cold Region and Cold Region of China

Global warming is resulting in higher summer indoor temperatures the severe cold region and of China, this affecting thermal comfort. Local building design codes consider these regions as cool summer, do not phenomenon overheating or propose countermeasures. This paper studied possibility residential buildings areas. It suggested alleviating using external horizontal shading, discussed how to integrate comfort into save energy consumption. The IESVE software was used simulate 18-storey with natural ventilation Yichun, Harbin, Shenyang, Dalian, Beijing, calculate change operative temperature. Horizontal shading designed for case study attempt alleviate summer. results showed that five cities experienced different degrees overheating. External successful reducing overheating, especially B C zones A zones. relevant should be modified take account.
